Adieu to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop – which was the King of Linux Distros during its time

Its time to bid adieu to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS desktop codenamed “Lucid Lynx” which was the 12th release of Ubuntu and the third LTS release by Canonical as the official support ends today.  Canonical won’t release anymore bug or security fixes/updates for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS desktop.

The revolution of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:

Canonical made a revolution in the Linux world with the release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.  It was hailed as the best distro ever made and people who have used 10.04 LTS would totally agree with that.  I too agree that its the best distro ever made and I used the 64bit version.

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS came with a new theme (one of the best theme ever made), new icons, new installer etc..  The stability & performance were top notch and it never crashed.  It was truly an amazing release and lived upto its LTS brand name.

With Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, sub-10-second boot and shutdown are now achieved on just about all machines, even those with only 512MB RAM.

I’m pretty sure that Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will definitely stay in the memories of each & everyone who used it as their Primary distro.

The Ubuntu startup sound is incredible and its one of the things that I liked very much.  Every time I boot up Ubuntu, I felt alive listening to that sound.

Ubuntu 10.04 served me for almost 2.5 years and its time to bid adieu!

Iĺl keep it forever. It runs great on my tosh laptop used as desktop.
My 12.04 on my actual laptop has a bunch of problems, including the interface. I was forced on gnome-fallback and recently forced (12.04 freeze problems and unable to install quantal for kernel) on 13.04 that gnome is worst and dont have my redeon performance card just the built in intel. By the looks of thing, Iḿ leaving the 10.04 and format the other with Mint (lts). Ubuntu is loosing it.

It was the best Ubuntu before they put the horrible Unity desktop environment. Now I am a ronin (A samurai without desktop environment) who roams looking for desktops, and every environment I try it’s nothing like Gnome2.
